National Annual Sustainable Speech from the Throne 2020
On 1 September 2020, Jan Jonker, professor of Sustainable Entrepreneurship at Radboud University in Nijmegen (The Netherlands), had the honour and challenge of delivering the 2020 Sustainable Throne Speech in The Hague. It was the ninth time that this speech was being held within the context of Sustainable Tuesday. This special Dutch national day provides an overview of the country’s standing regarding sustainability and will be discussed with politicians. It is the 22nd time that the national Sustainable Tuesday will take place in the Netherlands. Each year on this day, one person is asked to give a lasting speech in a personal capacity. Jonker will mainly address the urgent need to achieve economic and related policy transitions. He will do this with the aid of seven levers. His core message is that we must focus on these transitions in the decade if we want to address issues relating to sustainability, circularity and inclusivity.
